![]() Death of An MBA ? - 2Team Work Versus Individual Brilliance A Kaytek Educational Consulting Perspective |
|

2.0 - Team Work Versus Individual Effort Most MBA programs concentrate on building Brilliant Individual Performers versus Dedicated Team Players. Today's complex organizational decision making requires Team Players who understand that as Individuals, they are only 1, but as team players, 1 + 1 = 11 and not 2. Most MBA students from Good B-Schools by virtue of their brilliant academic performances in school and graduate levels (that is the reason why they got admission into Top MBA Schools) cannot function effectively as part of operational teams. Their very academic brilliance which was their strength before the MBA program, becomes a milestone around their neck for joint team efforts and success in organizations. Many MBA's though high on IQ have very low levels of emotional intelligence and ability to work under adverse organizational settings. This is often reflected by their low EQ (Emotional Quotient) scores as well as other similar measures like AQ (Adversity Quotient), SQ (Spiritual Quotient), etc in a work setting. This reflects adversely in their ability to work with people across multiple geographic cultures; a serious handicap in a flat connected world. Next - Preference for Consulting Over 'Dirty' Hands-on Operational Work. |
