 Ego, Go ! A Gentle Piece of Advice. Let Ego Go ! When it comes to our ego, we have to be like children. Playing with their LEGO's. Breaking up their carefully constructed LEGO models into smaller pieces. In the uncertain world ahead of us, some of us may have to break up our mental models (Our Assumptions about the world) into fresh pieces. Then re-building them once again. Fresh Insights about ourselves. About the way, we have perceived ourselves. And how the rest of those (dumb ???) (non-IT understanding) (Idiotic ??) people have perceived us. What is Ego doing here ? In my humble viewpoint , Our bloated Egos have resulted in the most crucial Problem that some of us have had as IT Professionals. |
Intellectual Arrogance. An Attitude, almost all Professionals possess. Since IT controls the foundations of modern business and contemporary organizations, we let it go into our heads. Allowing us to think that we ruled our worlds and people around us. Treating Non-IT People with Dirt. Even those who paid our salaries on time. And depended on us. Dumping them if necessary. Moving On Mercilessly. We have been (perhaps, rightly) considered as the Necessary Evil by the Non-IT guys. Sorry, Wrong Number ! They (The Non-IT) People took their revenge. When the balance of power shifted back to them. For the CEO, IT is just a utility resource. Amongst the many that he or she has or needs to run an effective business. What should we perhaps do ? |
Anniliate Immediately, Intellectual Arrogance. Break up the Ego. An Ancient Hindu Scripture says : .." The Ocean receives waters from the rivers flowing down the mountain, because it is at the bottom. Not at the Top...." Haughtiness Hurts. Humility Heals. What do we do ? Start with the closest people around us. Our family. Our friends. Our colleagues at work. They are and will remain our best support system in these uncertain times. Make Amends with them.
